2 Volumes bound as One. The Second Edition, with Additions and FIRST EDITION. Small 4to. full brown calf, rebacked with original boards laid on. Raised bands to spine with chestnut title label, gilt. Top edge brown, other edges speckled red. TENET Volume: viii, 204pp., [4], 124pp., Indexed. Frontispiece portrait has been tightly cropped when rebound, losing edges. Vignette illustration to title page. 1 folding and 4 full-page maps, 2 folding plates (including a family tree) and 18 full-page plates. Collection of Papers has 2 vignette illustrations including one that should have been bound in at p.141 of the History and a Corrigenda. FAVERSHAM Volume: iv, [2] 91pp. plus 69pp. to Monuments section, plus Directions to Binder at end. 1 folding and 5 full-page plates and 1 vignette illustration to Monuments. Engraved armorial bookplate of John Dupre and ink initials to front pastedown. Ink gift inscription, dated 1937, to early blank. Copious ink notes to margins throughout, along with 3 pages hand-written notes bound-in to the Tenet section and 8pp. hand-written folding notes bound-in to Faversham section, all in the same hand. Also a loose hand-drawn family tree, addressed to Daniel Newman Esq, Canterbury on reverse. Corrigenda page has been neatly ruled out, line by line. Light staining to foredge of title page and next few pages. Occasional light foxing and handling marks, heavier to Faversham section. Slight rubbing to raised bands and gilt titles of spine and light wear to top and base/ Small split to calf at top of spine. Original boards somewhat scarred and pitted, with some loss to gilt rules (please see photos). A VERY GOOD COPY of 2 SCARCE TITLES BOUND AS ONE.
